About Region V

NWSRA – Region V Australia is an incorporated Club that is now in it’s 46th Season. In 1971 a former President of Region V by the name of Terry Bennett took the first ski racing team to America on what was then known as the Expo Tour. This first Australian tour was instrumental in Australia becoming involved in the World and particularly in the American Racing Scene and was a great lift to the standard of ski racing in Australia.

These tours were undertaken for many years and Australia, from their years of participation, are regarded as Region V, having the distinction of skiing in the American Championships as one of their regions.

Terry Bennett was responsible for establishing the Region V racing format in Australia in 1978 and over many years Region V has continued on the tradition of selecting an Australian Team from their High Point Scorers in each class division, to compete in the US Nationals.

With this international exposure Region V has produced many excellent ski racers and still thirty years on, continues to produce many champions.

Region V is known to many as the breading ground of ski racing champions and this is evident by our many past and current Australian and World Champions.

The Region V style of racing paints the perfect ski racing picture, as it caters for the absolute first timer to the professional ski racer, with a fantastic family atmosphere. The very dedicated Committee strive to make racing fun and affordable with low membership and entry fees to attempt to keep ski racing in reach of Australian families.

The Region V Ski Racing Season commences in late November and consists of five rounds, held on a Saturday and Sunday, which are usually held once a month, continuing through to late May.

The Venue for Region V racing is the Marine Rescue Club House, Peel Street, Toukley on the beautiful Lake Budgewoi situated on the Central Coast of NSW, approximately 120km north of Sydney.

Skiers are eligible to ski in five races and one two up event over the weekend and newcomers are welcome to compete.

Region V has history, it has pace, it has fun and most of all, Great Racing!
